Initial Visit

During this first session we take our time to talk in depth about what has brought you to consider acupuncture, going over your concerns, what your goals for treatment are, current lifestyle, as well as your medical & lived history. We take this time to best understand you & your needs, and to address all possible factors that might be influencing your health & wellness. Your acupuncturist will listen to your pulses before recommending which treatment plan we suggest for your care.

To ensure your comfort, please dress in loose fitting clothes and arrive at your appointment well hydrated and having eaten a complete meal.

If possible we recommend keeping your schedule light after the session to allow yourself time to acclimate, especially if you haven’t received acupuncture treatments before.

If there is information you would like to relay to your clinician prior to your appointment you can reach out to us directly for additional assistance with this & to address any of your concerns. To protect patients' private medical information we’ve stopped inputting any medical information online and have expanded our initial treatment timing to a lot for filling out paperwork on actual paper.

For more information about preparing for your first appointment, please see our FAQ

Follow-Up Acupuncture & Bodywork

Caring for your health is an ongoing process– and we welcome you to schedule time with us as frequently as is supportive & possible for you. While you may experience immediate relief or ease after one session, generally speaking we see our clients find lasting improvements to their health through consistent care. We suggest starting with more frequent sessions (weekly or bi weekly) early on in the process; with time & as we see changes to your concerns, we will space out more time between treatment sessions. Your acupuncturist will talk through this with you so you can both agree on what frequency to follow.

Please feel encouraged to talk to us if you are concerned financial barriers are preventing you from receiving care at the pace that best supports you. Your care is our highest priority, and to support this we offer a sliding scale for all of our services. You can
Contact Us directly, or look in our FAQs to learn more about paying for sessions and how we approach sliding scale.

Herbal Remedies

Depending on your treatment plan & comfort, your clinician may suggest incorporating relationships with herbs & essential oils to support your ongoing care.

Herbal remedies may involve:
burning moxa, taking herbal supplements, applying essential oils, topical ointments, herbal soaks, & poultices.

All offerings are voluntary and are modified to your individual needs.
At any time you may decline or request other options for your treatment plan.

If you are an existing patient with us, you can book an online herbal remedies session without acupuncture or bodywork. This acts as a follow-up to discuss your progress and tweak your herbal medicines.

We ask that you use this option exclusively if you have an acute, contagious illness for which you want herbal support. We can’t provide in person care during those times, but can still assist in your recovery process.

Free Community Clinics

Around the New & Full Moon we hold Free Community Clinics at the Center offering mini-intakes and 30min acupuncture-only sessions designed specifically for you.

Alongside the acupuncture slots, our free clinics offer a guided Qi Gong sequence to bring us into our bodies & in alignment with the seasons, congee made by us or local chefs with all the toppings, and contemplative space for journaling, meditation, or using one of our oracle decks.

All offerings are optional (even the acupuncture) and the booking process will give you a choice between signing up for one of our available timeslots for treatment or to attend without receiving acupuncture.

If the time slots are all already taken and you aren’t able to receive acupuncture from us that day, please still come to benefit from the rest of the offerings! We would love to see you there.

NOTE: Due to the community nature of these events, please be aware that we do not have separate rooms for each person attending. It is possible that your acupuncture session may take place in areas where you will be in the same room or be able to overhear other folks receiving care. If you feel uncomfortable with that degree of shared space, or hearing the sounds of other people in their treatment sessions, this may not be the most supportive space for your needs.

To sign-up to attend one of our community clinics, use our Schedule page and select “Community Acupuncture” as your appointment type.
Appointments for the clinics will become available 7 days before the event and are first come first served.

All offerings are free. If you are able & moved to do so, please allow the spirit of generosity to ripple beyond us & donate to support others in our community.  At each event donations are welcome as we raise funds for different causes we care about and hope you will too.

Early Age & Pediatric Care

Healthcare is a right and should be available to people along the full life cycle. For minors, we offer a refined range of our offerings, and require the minor’s adult, parent, or guardian to remain present in the treatment room.

A vital component of pediatric treatments is teaching our children about consent.

Before your arrival, make sure to have a conversation about what to expect at their appointment. We want them to know that they are strongly encouraged to speak freely about what does and does not feel good to their body over the course of the treatment. The practitioner, youth, & their adult will begin the session by having a consent conversation prior to starting treatment.

Keep in mind that if your young person does not like to be touched, and/or finds it difficult to stay still or relax lying down, there are still means in which we can treat them creatively with their developing trust and consent.

Qi Gong Instruction

Qi Gong (pronounced Chee-Gong) is a traditional Chinese medicine practice and an integral part of approaching your care holistically. Qi Gong is a slow-to-moderate paced movement practice focusing on embodiment, energy flow, posture, breathing, and meditation. This offering is ideal for our patients who want to incorporate additional self directed and consistent care on their path to well being.

Currently you can find Qi Gong instruction through our Free Community Clinics, but we are also excited by opportunities to guide groups or individuals through private instruction to create movement practices catered to their specific goals.

There is more information about Qi Gong in FAQ’s.

Four-Hands Acupuncture & Bodywork

A special offering available only 1 day a week, these treatments follow a similar sequence as our other sessions except during these appointments you receive the supportive benefit of both Edea & Kyng’s combined skill,
presence, and their 4-hands.

During the session we will be collaborating together to work in tandem with one of us taking the lead on needling while the other
offers supportive body & energy work.

You can book your Four-Hands Acupuncture & Bodywork session directly through our Schedule  page, availability is limited to Fridays only.
Four-Hands is also available as a couples treatment
where there are 2 of us and 2 of you.
